Festival receives Arts Council and British Council Funding Awards

Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival has been awarded both British Council and Arts Council funding. Chosen from thousands of applications across the country, these prestigious grants cement the festival as an innovative, unique event across the borough of Richmond.

Arts Council - Transformation Commission

Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival is commissioning interdisciplinary design collective RESOLVE to facilitate and co-produce new artworks with local communities in Richmond. The project will take place in three of our libraries and will involve refugee communities as part of the council’s Libraries of Sanctuary programme.

Local library users, young people and families will help form this new artwork and reimagine their neighbourhood, under the guidance of RESOLVE.

About RESOLVE

RESOLVE is an interdisciplinary design collective that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges. They have delivered numerous projects, workshops, publications, and talks in the UK and across the world, all of which look toward realising just and equitable visions of change in our built environment.

British Council – International Collaboration Grant

We are developing a new programme Imagining the Forest - Cross-Cultural Conversations. This collaborative project between, Richmond (London), Karachi (Pakistan) and The Guarani YVYRUPA Commission (Sao Paulo, Brazil) will commission artists and work with indigenous communities to address the ecological crises.

Artists Rafael Vilela, an ally of The Guarani YVYRUPA Commission (São Paulo), Nadeem Al Karimi (Karachi), and Eelyn Lee (London) will create new works, supported by ‘Long Table’ events for public debate, with resulting artworks showcased at the Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival 2025, São Paulo Biennale and Karachi Biennale.

Keep up-to-date with these projects and watch them grow by joining our mailing list.
